Beth Young Garden Design, LLC is a Proud Partner in the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition
Sustainability = Using natural, financial, and human resources in a responsible manner that meets existing needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. ~City of Corvallis Sustainability Policy, 2004. Beth Young Garden Design, LLC is one of the growing number of organizations that have signed on as partners in the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition – a network of over 60 organizations in Corvallis and Benton County that are working together to accelerate the development of a sustainable community. The coalition was formed in January 2007 and includes non-profits, businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and faith-based organizations – all working on different aspects of sustainability. There are many benefits to our participation in the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition, including: Reaching more people through increased communication
This past year, the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition has been laying the groundwork to create a community dialogue – and action – on sustainability. The coalition currently has five active task groups (Energy, Green Building, Land Use, Local Food, Sustainability Education) and five active committees (Steering, Executive, Communications, Budget/Fundraising, Survey). The task groups have been working on visible projects – like the rainwater harvesting system at the South Co-op, the “Fall into Sustainability” events calendar posted around town, and the recent display on sustainability at the public library. The committees have begun work that will lead to a series of town hall meetings in 2008. These meetings will result in an action plan to guide us in our efforts to become the sustainable community envisioned in the Corvallis Vision 2020 plan, adopted in 1997.
