How to Access Your Online Soil Test Results

Go to Penn State University Soils Lab at www.aasl.psu.edu (or Google "Penn State AASL")

click View your Soil Fertility Report (on left)
click Access Soil Test Data (on bottom)
click Individual User
Beth Young Garden Design password is 40402
find your name under Field I.D. (Entries are usually arranged chronologically; you may need to click NEXT to get to the right page).
To get a copy of your report (PDF format), click the number under Sample I.D.

Plant Identification Website

Once you have your plant list, you can see accurate photos of your plant in different seasons by looking up the botanical name. Botanical protocol is that plants are listed by latin names as follows: Genus (italic and capitalized) species (italic and lower case) 'Cultivar' (not italic, capitalized with single quotation marks). Example Rosa corvallisii 'Sara Elizabeth'

As a member of the Oregon Association of Nurserymen, I have the annual catalogue of all the plants being grown commercially in Oregon so give me a call if you can't find a certain plant.

Of course, you can always call me for substitutions that will have the same visual, seasonal or functional features as the plants specified on your plan. This service is free of charge.

Corvallis Civic Beautification Awards

The Corvallis Civic Beautification and Urban Forestry Commission is considering landscapes for the annual Civic Beautification Awards.

What? They are looking for "impressive landscapes--residential or commercial, in the Corvallis city limits, visible to the public."

When? Nominate anytime; the deadline is June 30 each year. Awards are presented in September each year.
